100 years ago: Paul Ritter reported that horses were stolen from his Ignacio ranch.

75 years ago: Area skiers were about to throw in the towel for the season, when a surprise winter storm brought them one of the best skiing days of the year, which “just goes to prove that you can have any sort of weather you want in this part of Colorado, provided you don’t want spring weather.”

50 years ago: Durango High School announced that its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 1968 were Gilbert Castle and Wayne Wall. After graduation, Castle planned to attend Stanford University or Harvard University and Wall hoped to attend Colorado School of Mines.
