100 years ago: “The Colorado-New Mexico Fair for 1913 is closed. The 14th annual fair of the southwestern portion of this state and the northwestern portion of New Mexico is over with, its exhibits are being removed, its premiums and prizes have been awarded and, within a few hours, the buildings will be cold and deserted.”
75 years ago: “Under the supervision and direction of Dr. Robert Packard, eminent bone specialist of Denver, a crippled children’s clinic is being held in Durango – the first of its kind in this adjacent territory. Open to children under 21 years of age those examined will have a course of treatment prescribed to enable them to overcome some of the more serious phases of their particular handicaps.”
50 years ago: “Coin-o-Wash will hold its grand opening, according to George Otten, owner of the new serve-yourself business at 3062 Main Ave. It features facilities for do-it-yourself car washing, including detergent, hot water and cold water. Otten said the complete operation takes only between five and 10 minutes.”
25 years ago: “Amoco Production Co. will relocate its La Plata County operations center from Ignacio to a site near the Durango-La Plata County Airport by next summer. The center, a reorganization of operations in the area, will double the number of employees now working at the Ignacio center from 20 to around 40. The number will be a mix of transferred Amoco employees and new employees.”
