100 years ago: Stockmen were alarmed by rapid spread of “tongue and mouth” disease. The “unknown” disease had extended to all stock-growing sections of the San Juan, and investigators declared that milk from infected cows was “not fit for human consumption.”
75 years ago: An apartment for rent was advertised as: “2 furnished rooms at 752 Seventh Ave. $6/month.”
50 years ago: The city fire department was summoned to extinguish a house fire on East Third Avenue. The cause of the fire was unknown and damage was moderate.
25 years ago: A man wrapped in a U.S. flag was reportedly harassing people in the 3800 block of Main Avenue. Police cited him, but he was reported again, this time at Romero’s in the 600 block of Main Avenue for taking the flag off the patio and throwing it on the ground. Police cited the man again.
