100 years ago: Charley Wigglesworth and his mother, who were in Farmington “for a visit to friends over the holidays,” passed through Durango on their way to their home in the Animas Valley.
75 years ago: A description of New Year’s Eve said, “One large group plays with the train upstairs, another argues politics, or schools or highways, or racial discrimination in the kitchen. Another group stands around the piano while Dean Suttle leads the singing.”
50 years ago: The New Year’s holiday passed uneventfully in Cortez. No “highway or other accidents of consequence” occurred, according to the city police, Colorado State Patrol and Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office.
25 years ago: A 45-year-old man was cited for exposing himself from inside a car in the 500 block of East Third Street, and was warned by police not to do it again.
