And the West is History

100 years ago: The War Trade Board announced that the exportation of butter, except to nations that were allies of the United States, was prohibited.

75 years ago: Local school children were busy practicing songs and recitations for a Christmas program in Durango.

50 years ago: William K. Warren, city of Durango engineer, told local residents to check roofs for snow and ice during warmer hours of the day and urged them to remove concentrations that, as snow melted, could slide off and damage people or vehicles.

25 years ago: Durango police officers cited a 43-year-old man for assault and took him to detox after he was reportedly throwing snowballs at snowplow drivers and at police cars once they arrived at the scene in the 1000 block of Narrow Gauge Avenue.
