100 years ago: “C.F. David, of the Animas Valley, was a business visitor and buyer of ranch supplies and Santa Claus stuff in the city.”

75 years ago: “The Kiva Theater will hold its yearly Kiddies’ Christmas Party with this year’s show planned to be bigger than ever. There will be free treats. The feature picture will be Jane Withers, the child star, in ‘The Arizona Wildcat,’ and the program will be completed with cartoons.”

50 years ago: “Six women got together for a most practical and unique cookie exchange last week. They each made six dozen cookies, all the same kind. They then met at the home of Mrs. C.R. Anderson and swapped dozen for dozen and each one had six different kinds to take home. They included the recipe with their cookies.”

25 years ago: “Southwest Colorado residents who are dreaming of a white Christmas better go someplace else.”
