100 years ago: “The dedication exercises for the new city park, to be called Riverside Park, to be made from the transformed old water works site which has been turned over by the city at the initiative of the Civic Club, will be held.”
75 years ago: “Extensive sidewalk improvements will be made in Durango through a $28,645 Works Progress Administration project approved in Washington. The work will be done in Sidewalk District No. 6 and along Fifth Street in South Durango.”
50 years ago: “Rex Howell of Grand Junction, owner of KREX-TV there and of KREY-TV in Montrose, said that he has purchased the Floyd Jeter television construction permit for channel 6. The Jeter station was destroyed by fire on Feb. 20 this year and has not been on the air since.”
25 years ago: “Tamarron Resort is listed in this month’s Glamour magazine as a great summer getaway. ‘A heavenly escape for city-dwellers is the award-winning resort called Tamarron, set high in a glorious wilderness valley in the Rockies of Southwest Colorado,’ reads the text. The resort is featured along with Jackson Hole, Wyo., as a drive-to vacation destination for persons living in the Rockies.”
