100 years ago: B. Fisher, “who was pinched” for assault and battery, was fined “five and costs and advised to join the army if he wants to fight in justice court.”
75 years ago: W.C. Sweinhart, Colorado director of agriculture, advised that housewives, “especially those in the smaller towns,” contact their grocers for peaches “to be assured of an ample supply.”
50 years ago: Five new faculty members were appointed at Fort Lewis College, which included mathematics, art and botany departments.
25 years ago: Two bike patrol officers saw what they thought was a woman sleeping on the ground in the 200 block of East Eighth Avenue. The officers determined that it was a man dressed as a woman, who told police he had a quarrel with his companion and was planning on going back to Denver. Police told the man not to sleep there.
