100 years ago: A classified advertisement read: “For sale – Team of mares, weight about 950 pounds each cheap at $75 a piece. I will take $85 for the team, and throw in a secondhand double mule harness and single buggy. Inquire of R.F. Myers, the Granden Merc. Co.”

75 years ago: “Durango police are holding in custody two men suspected of having stolen some laundry from the C.O.D. Laundry delivery truck. The two men in custody are two alleged piano tuners. Stolen from the truck were two pairs of trousers and a parcel of laundry.”

50 years ago: “Taps were sounded by Carl Temple at 11:16 a.m. next to the Fort Lewis College flagpole in the memory of President Kennedy. The occasion was a simple, dignified and moving memorial service attended by Fort Lewis faculty and students and local Durangoans.”

25 years ago: “A foot of snow fell at Helen’s Store near Vallecito Lake. Up to five inches fell in the Durango area. Purgatory Ski Area received 10 inches.”
