100 years ago: “Secretary Wilson, of the Durango Exchange, has a job on a ranch for a willing worker, that pays $30 a month and board. He says he wants to fill the place at once so as to keep up the average for employment results. Hurry up, men.”

75 years ago: “The navy recruiting office signed up another man, C.R. Shrubb taking himself right into signing up for another four-year hitch in the service. Shrubb, the local recruiting officer, has served 18 years in the navy service. He left for Denver, where he will formally reenlist.”

50 years ago: “The largest graduating class in the history of Durango High School, 257 members strong, received diplomas in commencement exercises.”

25 years ago: “Jill Davis, 14, was selected as best playing junior at last year’s national polocrosse tournament in Durango and is featured in this month’s National Geographic World Magazine.”
