And the West is History

100 years ago: “Although a few dairymen and cow keepers have sought the city hall to obtain a milk peddler’s license, as required by the new ordinance that goes into effect on or about May 22, there has been no big rush yet.”

75 years ago: An advertisement read: “All Trimble Springs pools now open. Newly redecorated. New entrance at pools. Lounging room and warm dressing rooms. Bring the family.”

50 years ago: “Paula Pargin was elected by the La Plata County 4-H Council as county fair queen for 1964.”

25 years ago: “Two people were injured and more than 150 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into Cascade Creek when a runaway tractor-trailer crashed off U.S. Highway 550 north of Durango. Diesel fuel from the truck’s ruptured fuel tank drained quickly into Cascade Creek, but officials said they believe health concerns to be minimal.”
