This picture appeared in the Feb. 11, 1988, Herald: “Mike McClanahan, an employee of San Juan Sign Company of Farmington, lowers the old sign of La Plata Jewelry Inc., 1018 Main Ave., before installing a new sign on the face of the building. The change was made to conform with Durango’s sign ordinance, which takes effect March 1.”

100 years ago: “The Durango Exchange is sure the liveliest organization in this section and will trot any similar organization in the state a heat for honors.”

75 years ago: “Durango Lions will meet at the Strater for dinner this evening at 6:30.”
