75 years ago: “Of unusual interest to the people of Durango and this vicinity will be the program at which two speakers from the University of Colorado will present both verbal and graphic pictures of student life on the university campus. There will not only be short talks but also there will be showings of colored movies of various phases of student life on the university campus.”

50 years ago: “A gathering of more than 600 Fort Lewis College supporters gave Pres. John F. Reed a standing ovation at a gathering on the college’s Student Union patio. They had been invited to the campus to mark the preliminary accreditation of the new senior college by the North Central Association.”

25 years ago: “Intoxicated people who don’t want to drive home but can’t find a ride will have the option of using the Durango Tipsy Taxi Service. The taxi service will be operated for a six-week test period from July 27 to Sept. 6.”
