75 years ago: “For three days – Durango High School boys and girls find out just how green is the grass on the other side of the fence. After the Fine Arts Festival is over and the visiting Garbos and Gables go home, the local Romeos and Juliets will per necessity return to their perhaps less exciting but more accessible sparring partners in Dan Cupid’s arena.”
50 years ago: “Dan McTaggart will not begin his piano lessons again till May 1. He has had a very serious bout with the flu and been a patient at Mercy Hospital.”
25 years: “Two of the three men from Kansas who have purchased Durango National Bank also will guide its operation, and they predict their expertise will turn things around for the ailing institution. Marion E. ‘Ed’ McMillan, Roger Bukovatz and Larry E. Adams, all from the Wichita area, bought in cash all the bank’s stock from the current owner, a holding company called DNB Bank Corp.”
