100 years ago: Miss Sharley Pike was able to leave Mercy hospital after three weeks undergoing treatment, and she was hopeful she would return to her profession as a school teacher before too long.

75 years ago: Several men were chosen to lead the La Plata County farm machinery survey during a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce offices, each of them responsible for forming their own committee.

50 Years Ago: Andy Fletcher was named chairman of the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners, with John Ferguson selected as vice chairman. The commissioners reappointed all county officials to serve La Plata County for the 1967 year.

25 years ago: The cold weather allowed workers to prepare the Chapman Hill ice rink for scheduled broomball league games. The rink had yet to open for ice skating, with plans to bring out the Zamboni and smooth things over.
