100 years ago: “Grant Morris, the dentist, suffered a fracture of his left leg when an automobile driven by Dr. A.W. Robbins, in which he was a passenger, went into the ditch on the Florida Mesa on the return from a professional trip to Ignacio. Morris was taken to Mercy hospital, and the injured member given prompt attention.”

75 years ago: “The Durango City Council voted to hire an engineer to draw up plans and specifications for a sewage disposal plant for the city. The engineer’s plan will be for a Goff disposal plant, for complete treatment, with a double compartment for sludge digestion and sludge beds. The plant really will be two, one in North Durango and the other in South Durango.”

50 years ago: “Free reflective tape will be applied to youngsters’ bikes in a ‘Lite-a-Bike’ program to be conducted by members of the Durango VFW post and the Boy Scouts. Strips of reflective tape will be put on the rear fender, handlebars and front forks of the bikes, making each bike visible after dark from all angles.”

25 years ago: “The board at Mercy Medical Center has named a new chief financial officer, and the search for a permanent administrator continues. Ali Arouri replaces Bard Heroy, the former CFO who is now the information systems manager at Mercy.”
