100 years ago: Part of a conversation someone overheard at a show was printed in the Durango Evening Herald, and involved one person who told another, “When that corpse rose up out of that coffin and began shooting with a revolver in each hand, I just let myself go and the next I knew I was a block away and still going.”
75 years ago: State auditor Charles M. Armstrong discovered a shortage “in the records of the Las Animas County treasurer at Trinidad” of an estimated $50,000.
50 years ago: A selection team visited Fort Lewis College to find a senior or graduate student at the student union to become an Army officer candidate.
25 years ago: An employee at Durango Threadworks reported two “longhairs” playing guitar in front of the business and blocking foot-traffic on the sidewalk. The two were found innocent of blocking the sidewalk so they were allowed to stay.
