100 years ago: After he’d spent a few days in the San Luis Valley “on a business mission,” G.L. Butler, editor of The Farmington Times-Hustler, was in Durango for one night before he continued home.

75 years ago: Passenger cars were reportedly “traveling New Mexico highways at the greatest speed of any state in the nation.”

50 years ago: Three well-known University of Colorado professors were scheduled to give presentations and participate in discussions during a symposium about Vietnam held in Durango.
