This in addition to the heavy blanket that had covered the section for several days, blockaded the street cars for hours, making walking a very difficult feat and created no end of trouble for those who had to drive through the streets.”
75 years ago: “Work on the construction of Vallecito dam on the Pine River reclamation project northeast of Durango has progressed very satisfactorily during 1940, and the dam will be completed this summer. The earth and rock fill dam will be 150 feet high, 4,000 feet long, and will contain 3,740,000 cubic yards of material.”
50 years ago: “City councilmen quickly disposed of the two-item agenda Tuesday night and then discussed the feasibility of imposing a curfew for youngsters 16 and under.”
