50 years ago: “Durango’s oldest independent grocery store, under the same ownership, Brown’s Drive-in Market, 1854 Main Ave., has been sold to a Farmington, N.M. partnership. The market which was built in 1938 will open its doors as the 7211 Food store. ... The Browns started in a small way in their home during depression days and watched their business grow into a substantial neighborhood operation.”
