100 years ago: “William Graf of the upper valley delivered the first ‘Springers.’ These chickens are the first of the season and dressed a pound and a ½ each.”

75 years ago: “Although rumors have spread around Durango that a ‘gusher’ oil well was brought near Pagosa Springs reports from the Springs mark that rumor as unfounded.”

50 years ago: This appeared in the section called Redmesa News: “Mrs. Ed Kennedy fell while cleaning the ceiling in her home and broke her arm. Accept the condolences of the area, Mrs. Kennedy.”

25 years ago: Brownsville, Texas – “A jury awarded $1.5 million to a Durango man who claimed his marriage was destroyed by a lesbian nun who seduced his wife, and that church officials did nothing to prevent it.”
