50 years ago: “The hospital business is booming. Both Mercy and Community hospitals have almost every bed full, and it has been this way for a month or more. There is no epidemic, nothing in particular that patients are being admitted for, but rather a combination of heart attacks, surgery and the flu.”
25 years ago: “A group of students at Durango High School is attempting to have the ‘Wizard of A.I.D.S.’ play performed at the school. Jesse Kutz, president of the DHS student council, said a committee has been formed to study what it will take to have the play brought to the school. However, DHS Principal Bobby Wright said he has no plans to invite the Fort Lewis College theater group to the high school to perform the AIDS education play.”
