And the West is History

100 years ago: “R.J. Thompson of Denver, selling the Dry Climate cigars, was an arrival in the city to call on the local dealers. He says since the state went dry he has a great call for his special brand.”

75 years ago: “Service cars of the Rocky Mountain Electric Company received a new coat of paint.”

50 years ago: “Mr. and Mrs. E.L. (Deke) Fulton have sold their lovely home on the Florida Mesa with its handsome view south to New Mexico and its equally striking view of the mountains to the north and west. The new owners don’t wish to be identified.”

25 years ago: “The Colorado Historical Society has recognized Southwest Colorado’s two Ute Indian tribes for their efforts to preserve their past and extend the knowledge of the public. The Southern Ute Indian Tribe in Ignacio and the Towaoc-based Ute Mountain Indian Tribe were awarded for their efforts to maintain Ute history and culture through videos and workbooks.”
