100 years ago: “Paul Smith of Reservoir Mesa, was in with a couple of bobcat skins and a coyote hide, collecting bounty at the county treasurer’s office.”

75 years ago: “‘Pneumonia Control’ will be the topic of an institute to be held at St. Rita’s hall, the Mercy Hospital nurses home. The indications are that it will be very interesting as well as instructive.”

50 years ago: “Postmaster S. C. Parker believes Monday of this week will be the heaviest day for Christmas mail in the Durango post office. ‘Christmas mailing started earlier than ever this year,’ Parker says.”

25 years ago: “The Durango Area Chamber Resort Association will support a new toll-free reservations line in spring – much to the chagrin of Purgatory Ski Area, which feels betrayed after six years of operating a similar service.”
