50 years ago: “Curious passersby peered into Durango’s new and modern city hall edifice where the interior lights shone officially for the first time during an evening session of city council. Councilmen sat officially behind a half-moon rostrum overlooking the newly decorated and brightly lit chamber.”
25 years ago: “How did the 43 students from Japan find Durango and Fort Lewis College? Through a program called the International Education System or IES. This program, which began in Tokyo is a private educational exchange program in which Japanese students can attend American colleges and universities, and American students can study in Japan.”
