Davenport, who appeared under the joint auspices of the Colorado State Agriculture College and the extension service of La Plata County, emphasized the advantages in electric power in lightening kitchen work.”

25 years ago: “Have you noticed unkept flower gardens and overflowing trash dumpsters in city parks this summer? You’re likely to notice a lot more ragged edges in the parks if the Durango City Council does not fund new maintenance positions next year. ... In the past few years, the city has added 20 acres of new parks, but no employees to keep them up. Parks employees have been taxed this year by special events, including the World Mountain Bike Championships and the whitewater championships.”
