75 years ago: “Scheduled to take place in July, the first CCC contingent from New York, composed of 100 boys, will take over the CCC Camp at Red Mesa following the breaking up of the present camp personnel.”

50 years ago: “Grass fires continued threatening the area as rural firemen were called out to a series of fires south of Durango near the KIUP Radio Station. Another was reported near Bayfield.”

25 years ago: “School District 9-R’s new Superintendent Harvie Guest hit the deck running when he officially began his job last week. The ink on his contract was barely dry when the new leader began meeting with district officials and teachers.”
