And the West is History: Durango entertainer Homer Kirk – ca. 1936
Monday, Dec 23, 2024 5:00 AM
In February 1936, the Kiva Theater hosted a series of “Talent Revue and Gong Night” contests that showcased local amateur singers, dancers and musicians. Radio station KIUP broadcast the competition live. Homer Kirk, shown here, was one of the finalists in the contest, which concluded a month later. Efforts to learn more about the contest results and Kirk’s subsequent career were unsuccessful. – Ed Horvat for Animas Museum, edhorvat@animasmuseum.org (Catalog Number: 03.40.45 from the La Plata County Historical Society Photo Collections)
