And the West is History: Durango High School – ca. 1916

This is how Durango High School appeared shortly after its construction in 1916. Located at 201 E. 12th St., most of the surrounding property was still empty at the time. Perins Peak is to the left in the background. The smoke coming from behind the building is from the coal-fired boilers at the Western Colorado Power Plant, now the Powerhouse Science Center.
