And the West is History: Goodman Paint Parade Float – Ca. 1890s

The Goodman Paint and Wallpaper Co. first opened for business in Durango in 1880. For 113 years it was operated by the Goodman family. Through the years, its location changed a number of times. It was variously located in the 800 and 900 blocks of Main Avenue as well as the location pictured here at 140 E. Eighth Street. Throughout their history, Goodmans had a number of business activities. They sold paint and art supplies, installed glass and even offered undertaking services. In 1993, the family sold the business. The boy pictured here, Ray Goodman, was the grandfather of twins Ron and Bill Goodman, the last family members to operate the business. – Ed Horvat for Animas Museum, edhorvat@animasmuseum.org (Courtesy of La Plata County Historical Society)The Goodman Paint and Wallpaper Co. first opened for business in Durango in 1880.
