Anger about Arc likely caused its demise

In regard to the vandalized art piece, just think what $28,000 would have gotten us from one of our fantastic local sculptors like Veryl Goodnight, or the sculptor who did the incredibly beautiful mountain lion stalking its prey in front of the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. Did we really have to go to Pennsylvania for this very prominent piece? Durango is entertained with this piece because it is so bizarre. It was being made an object of ridicule, and it seems the anger over its choice finally came out in force. Whoever may be the powers that do the choosing, for inspiration please consider some other lovely mountain town sculptures, both here in Durango and in Beaver Creek, for instance. And could we look around our own talent-filled area for a replacement? Are we not capable of admitting it was a mistake?
