Animas High School announces Osprey Games, more

Animas High School juniors in Ashley Carruth’s Humanities class will present “The Morality and Politics of Justice Coffee House Community Dialogues” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Durango Joe’s, 732 East College Drive. How should the government balance security, liberty and equality in creating a just society? Come discuss students’ proposals for how the government should resolve various political issues, not based on what Democrats or Republicans espouse, but based on what is morally and politically just. The AHS School Excellence Committee will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at AHS. The AHS Board of Directors meets that same evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Both meetings are open to the public. For more information, visit http://animashighschool.com/board-meetings.Animas High School’s largest fundraising event of the year, the second annual Osprey Games, will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Henry Strater Theatre. Teams of students and teachers will face off in this game-show-style competition to celebrate the school and raise money needed to keep it thriving. The Osprey Games will feature live music from students and staff members, a showcase of beautiful student work, prize drawings and door prizes (including Broncos tickets and Purgatory Power Cards) and plentiful appetizers and a cash bar.

All are welcome to this free event, which will include multiple opportunities to support the school throughout the evening. Dress for the event in “game-show fancy” attire.

If you want to get involved as a sponsor or volunteer, email Ashley Hein at development@animashighschool.com.
