Animas High School has been searching for its new head of school since Rebecca Ruland stepped down in July.
As of late October, the school has enlisted a nationally recognized executive-search firm specializing in educational leadership to assist in identifying and recruiting the best person for the job, according to a news release from the school.
Ruland took over for former Head of School Sean Woytek, and acted in the position for three years before stepping down this summer to pursue a fellowship position with the Legacy Foundation in Colorado Springs.
An interim school leadership team was enlisted for the 2025-26 school year and will remain in place until Ruland’s replacement is found.
The team includes Interim Director of Curriculum and Instruction Lori Fisher; Interim Director of Student Success Carlin Nielsen; Director of Operations Christine Imming; and Interim Director of Enrollment and Community Outreach Libby Cowles.
The Board of Directors enlisted Leslie Nair of LNS Partners, a nationally recognized executive-search firm specializing in educational leadership, to assist in identifying and recruiting AHS’s next head of school, the release said.
Nair will be coming to the AHS campus Nov. 12 through 14 to meet with teachers, staff, board members and parents to learn more about AHS and what the school is seeking in its next head of school, the release said.
Additional information about Nair’s visit and the search timeline and process will be released in coming weeks, the release said.
