Animas High School seeks new board members

Animas High School is seeking new members for its board of directors.

Animas High School is seeking new members to join the charter school’s board of directors.

Board members’ responsibilities include:

Ensuring the school is fulfilling its mission and vision.Supporting and evaluating the head of school.Monitoring and strengthening the school’s programs and services.Providing financial oversight, ensuring legal and ethical integrity of the organization.Enhancing the school’s public standing.Board members must be able to commit to monthly meetings, chairing a board committee and other tasks as needed.

People interested in learning more about the board can attend the next AHS board meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 25 at AHS, 271 Twin Buttes Ave., in Durango.

The school is entering its 10th year of providing project-based education that prepares all students for college, career and postsecondary success.

AHS also is preparing to kick off a capital campaign and build a permanent facility in Durango.

The school is looking for additional board members to help achieve its goal. Skills and experience in fundraising and finances are particular areas of expertise the school is looking for in new board members.

AHS is a public, tuition-free charter school founded by local community members, accredited by the Colorado Charter School Institute and inspired by High Tech High in San Diego.
