Animas Museum will host its Second Saturday Seminar Series at 1 p.m. Dec. 14 with a look back at how La Plata County celebrated Christmas in 1944.
That Christmas saw county residents serving in the military and in civilian wartime jobs around the world. While there was a longing for peace and hope that families would soon be reunited, the holidays were still celebrated. Rationing may have changed the recipes, but cookies and fruitcakes were baked and children looked forward to a visit from Saint Nick.
This program will be available on Zoom and streamed on the big screen in the classroom, 3065 West Second Ave.
