The Animas Museum is holding an exhibit for Veterans Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the corner of 31st Street and West Second Avenue. The exhibit explores the effects of World War I on La Plata County. A mini-exhibit will compare uniforms of a World War I aviator and a Vietnam-era Naval aviator.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for children and free for members of the La Plata County Historical Society.
The museum will take part in the “Bells of Peace: A World War One Remembrance” at 11 a.m. Sunday and ring the museum’s bell 21 times to commemorate the Armistice.
Costumed historic interpreters will talk about the World War I veterans buried at Greenmount Cemetery at 1 p.m. Sunday at the cemetery, 900 Cemetery Road.
Admission is free and donations are being accepted for projects.
