Animas River Trail at Iris and Riverfront parks to close for improvements

Animas River Trail at Iris and Riverfront parks will close for improvements.

The Animas River Trail improvement project at Iris Park and Riverfront Park, located behind River City Hall and the Powerhouse Science Center, will begin this week, weather permitting.

This project will include a new concrete trail, lighting, site amenities, landscaping and irrigation. Work is scheduled for completion in June.

The Animas River Trail between the Iris Park bridge and the swinging bridge will be closed to public access during construction. All trail users are encouraged to use posted alternate routes. Cyclists are asked to walk bicycles through the marked construction area.

Vehicle access to the Powerhouse Science Center/Maker Lab will remain open. Existing parking at Iris Park will be closed during construction, and parking for River City Hall employees and visitors will be enforced.
