Animas River Trail detour planned at Santa Rita

Because of construction at the Santa Rita Wastewater Treatment Plant, a temporary bypass will be placed on the Animas River Trail, between the river and the treatment plant, to divert people away from the area while crews install a pipe underneath the trail.

The section of trail will close Oct. 23, weather permitting, and it is expected to reopen during spring, 2018. The bypass will be available during the closure. River users will be able to access Whitewater Park on the trail that runs parallel to the closed section of the Animas River Trail. Facilities at Santa Rita Park will remain open.
