Animas River Trail to be detoured at Santa Rita Water Reclamation Facility

Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be detoured around a section of Animas River Trail near Santa Rita Water Reclamation Facility starting Monday.

The detour and trail closure will allow for landscaping work and the extension of a storm drainpipe from the new administration building at the facility. Construction is expected to be complete Oct. 2.

There will be two detours to ensure the safety of all trail users. Pedestrians will use the soft-surface trail on the west side, or river side, of the concrete trail. Construction fencing will separate construction from pedestrian traffic. Whitewater Park will remain open to walking traffic.

Cyclists will be routed around Santa Rita Water Reclamation Facility on a new concrete trail spur on the east side of the plant next to U.S. Highway 550.

The trail closure and detours will be well marked. Trail users are asked to use caution when traveling in the area and use their designated pedestrian or bicycle routes.
