Animas Valley Elementary School will host a “Mix and Mingle” event for parents of its fifth-graders transitioning to Miller, Escalante and Mountain middle schools from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday, at Animas Valley Elementary, School, 373 Hermosa Rd.

The PTO will sponsor the event with coffee and burritos from Hermosa Grill. Attending the event will be Shane Voss, the head of school at Mountain Middle School; Kelly Rottman, the incoming sixth-grade counselor at Miller; and Kim Osby, the incoming sixth-grade counselor at Escalante, as well as parent representatives.

The goal of the event is to make the transition to middle school as easy and successful as possible for families and students.
