An anonymous donor has promised to match every dollar donated to Manna soup kitchen up to $10,000 through the end of March.
The donation challenge was launched by a donor in response to Manna’s Southwest Colorado Rocks win, according to the Durango Chamber of Commerce.
Manna was named 2025 Nonprofit of the Year at a February ceremony and received a $1,996 donation from the La Plata Electric Association Round Up Fund.

Through the anonymous donor, every dollar given to Manna through March 31 will be matched up to $10,000, according to the release.
“Manna was thrilled to be informed of an anonymous donor who will be providing a $10,000 matching donation in honor of this award,” Manna Executive Director Marissa Hunt said in an email statement sent to The Durango Herald. “This will be another accomplishment achieved through community, and we hope you will help us reach this goal! Every dollar donated goes twice as far through the matching donation, and your contribution will support Manna in strengthening food, housing, and economic security in Southwest Colorado.”
The nonprofit serves about 3,500 meals a month. It also supplies underserved communities with a range of resources, including showers, clothing, transportation, job help, dental care, prescription assistance, and phone, ID, SNAP and housing help.
“When you support Manna, you are doing more than making a donation,” the Durango Chamber Team wrote in the release. “You are helping place a warm meal in someone’s hands. You are helping families stretch their food budgets. You are supporting housing stability, job training, and real pathways forward for neighbors who need it most.”
