Another week, another blowout shutout for the Ignacio High School football team.
The Bobcats (3-1) defeated Montezuma-Cortez’s junior varsity team 49-0 on Saturday after scoring 75 against Shiprock last week.
Quarterback Adison Jones threw for four touchdowns, two to tight end Nick Hererra and one apiece to Clayton Jefferson and Antonio Torres.
“He got good protection; the line has continued to improve,” IHS head coach Lupe Huerta said. “I don’t think he got touched.”
Adam Herrera added three scores on the ground.
Ignacio has won its last three games after dropping its season opener at home to Aspen, which beat Bayfield 24-6 on Friday night.
The schedule will get more difficult for the Bobcats when they open Southern Peaks League play Friday against Monte Vista. The Pirates are 3-1.
“Their confidence is high; they’ve got good momentum going into league play,” Huerta said. “It’s going to get harder from here.”
