A delay in test results for COVID-19 have resulted in the postponement of yet another Fort Lewis College basketball game.
While the FLC men had already postponed Sunday’s contest with Metropolitan State University of Denver because of positive coronavirus cases within the Skyhawks’ team, the FLC women have also now postponed Sunday’s matchup with the Roadrunners.
MSU-Denver did not receive results back from team-wide testing in time to travel Saturday from Denver to Durango. The two teams discussed pushing the start of Sunday’s game time from 2 p.m. back to 4 p.m. to possibly allow Metro State to travel the day of the game. But the decision was made to postpone, instead.
The game had already been rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday earlier in the week. That allowed Metro State to play a rescheduled game against Adams State University on Thursday in Denver.
FLC and Metro State (4-3, 3-2 RMAC) have both said they will attempt to reschedule a game later in the season.
The Skyhawks (2-4, 2-4 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) were forced to forfeit one contest this season because of COVID-19 issues and have now had three other games postponed with the hopes of rescheduling.
FLC has 13 games remaining on the regular-season calendar. Teams must complete 11 conference games and finish in the top-eight in RMAC winning percentage to qualify for the conference tournament.
The Skyhawks are scheduled to travel to play Chadron State College in Nebraska at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. It is the first of a three-game road trip. Chadron State was scheduled to visit FLC on Dec. 4, but that game was postponed because of COVID-19 issues for FLC.
