Anyone with initiative can attend Animas

Who are charter schools for (Herald, May 11)? Any student who wants to attend. Any family who has the initiative to make it happen outside of the convenience of the status quo of public schools. Attendance is chosen by a random lottery, and there are still spots open for the 2014-15 school year. This article was misleading and negative. How about a story about the test scores of the students at Animas High School that are above not only the local schools but place the school in the top 25 percent in the state and have earned it an “accredited with distinction” rating! What was the point or news value of this story?
