Applications for Utility Refund Program will be accepted starting March 1

The city of Durango will accept applications for the Utility Refund Program beginning Sunday.

Residents with a total household income no greater than 50% of the Area Median Family Income for La Plata County by family size, as published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for 2019, may qualify for the utility rebate.

Only residents of the city who owned and occupied a home that received city utility services on Dec. 31, and for at least 10 months of 2019, are eligible to file a claim for themselves and all eligible members of their household. The resident filing an application must have occupied the property – as an owner – on which city utilities were paid in 2019.

Applications are available at City Hall, 949 East Second Ave.; the Transit Center, 250 W. Eighth St.; and the Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.; or online at www.DurangoGov.org/rebates.

Applications must be submitted by July 1.
