Arc is fine; spending more on it is not

The Arc of History looks as good to me today as it ever did. As a canvas to inspire the imagination of those blessed with a clean sense of humor, similar to those who decorate the cyclist sculptures on Florida Road for many holidays, it is hilarious and causes laughter which makes the soul sparkle. I love the creativity. No harm is done. I do not agree with vandalism, such as the smiley-face on Smelter Mountain or the malicious breaking of any expensive or meaningful object.

However, on the other hand, after reading the article about the Durango library staffing, being aware of the loss of convenient recycling stations, increase in trolley fees (free trolley rides are a boon to tourists), teachers holding bake sales to buy supplies for their classrooms, and the cutting back on school activities and learning opportunities (of which the Durango Library provides a plethora), to name a few issues, there are so many other ways to spend money then on the repair or purchase of non-local art.

Maybe fund allocations need to be adjusted in favor of expenditures with more of a direct impact on this community I love.
