We are at a crossroads in this election. Presidential candidate Donald Trump has admitted and bragged that because he is famous, he can sexually assault women with no consequences. Now, Republican candidates must state whether they continue to support Trump for president.
J. Paul Brown still supports Trump – even after learning that Trump has violated many women. Lyle McKnight and Scott Tipton have staunchly supported Trump this year – and now? What is Kayla Patterson’s position? The voters of La Plata County have a right to know if our candidates endorse Trump. Please ask McKnight, Tipton and Patterson if they support Trump.
It is unthinkable to entrust the well-being of American women and girls to a sexual predator. What message would we be sending to our sons and daughters?
Trump has shown us for decades who he is. He has no problem committing crimes or lying, even knowing the truth is on audio, video and Twitter. How could we ever know if this serial liar was telling us the truth?
Trump can never be a positive role model for our children. He believes he is above the law. He is too unstable and easily provoked, lacking necessary calm judgment for decisions involving war and use of nuclear weapons. He is a dangerous bully who says and does whatever he feels entitled to do. Daily, he violates the Golden Rule when he insults, mocks and belittles American citizens from all walks of life.
As a little girl, I had the kindest minister who taught me the most important Christian lesson was to treat others how I wanted to be treated, and that humane conduct was always the goal of life.
Recently, a little 6-year-old told his mom that “the guy” would lose because he called someone “a piggy” and you can’t do that and be president. Even a child can remind adults about basic rules of decency taught in kindergarten.
Vote – it matters. Vote for decency and for candidates who respect all citizens. Remember, our children are watching us. Let’s get this one right for them.
