Are the incumbents really nonpartisan?

I am concerned with the legality of the incumbents’ qualifying to be elected to the school board.

The editorial, “Keep school board elections focused on students, not politics,” (Herald, Aug. 20), and the subsequent endorsement (Herald, Oct. 11), states that “School board elections are nonpartisan by Colorado law and must be focused squarely on students and public education. The core principle of Colorado's public education is simple: politics and religion out of the classroom.”

The problem is, these candidates have been endorsed by elected Democrats and the state Democratic Party.

How is this nonpartisan?
