Are transit head salaries being cut, too?

The cuts to the city transit system due to budget issues has been published in this newspaper along with comments from people affected by these cuts to this service.

I question the severity of these reductions of service. When transit department service is being reduced so drastically, have the salaries of the director and superintendent of this department also been reduced by the same percentage as the reductions to service?

If these positions have fewer employees to manage and fewer responsibilities, with the cut to transit routes, should they not receive less compensation thus perhaps freeing up some more dollars to retain some of the routes and providing jobs to qualified bus drivers?

I realize that my questions will not be taken seriously by the current city management nor the current City Council, as under their administration the number of hourly positions has decreased and the number of salaried positions has increased.

This leads to the question of whom do they really serve, the citizens of Durango or themselves?
