Jane Pedersen to teach handmade journal workshop at Durango Arts Center

Durango artist Jane Pedersen will teach a handmade journal workshop from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.

Students will create and construct a simple handmade journal in the class, which is also designed to help participants understand how journaling can be a therapeutic endeavor.

Durango Arts Center class to offer improv lessons from a professional

The community will have a chance to learn improv skills from a pro Saturday. The Durango Arts Center is holding an Improvisational Comedy class with Jessica Jackson, the artistic director of Creede Repertory Theatre, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DAC Theater, 802 East Second Ave.

The workshop is for improvisers at any level who want a deeper understanding of the techniques that make great stage improv, such as Chicaco-style long-form scene building. Jackson is the founder of Creede Repertory Theatre’s Boomtown Improv, which will perform in Durango on Friday.

The class is for ages 18 and older. The cost is $36 for general admission, $25 for DAC members and $10 for students.
